There are a lot of reasons why you might want to change your Medicare coverage. From a diagnosis to a move to another part of the country, your Medicare coverage choices can change for a variety of reasons. We can help get you the coverage you need for today, tomorrow, and into the future.
As of 2019, the Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period went away and was replaced by the Medicare Advantage open enrollment period. This lasts twice as long and provides more flexibility than the original Medicare Advantage disenrollment period did, as it also allows Medicare Advantage enrollees the option to switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan.
Before 2019, the disenrollment period only allowed people to drop their Medicare Advantage plan and enroll in Original Medicare, Parts A & B.
You can make changes to your Medicare coverage during the Fall Annual Coordinated Election Period. Any changes you elect to make during this period take effect starting January 1 of the upcoming year. During the fall enrollment period, you can add, remove, or change Medicare Part D Rx drug coverage.
If you apply for Medigap coverage anytime outside of your open enrollment period, there’s no certainty that an insurance carrier will grant you coverage under a Medigap policy. You may not meet the medical underwriting requirements, in which case you will not be able to obtain Medigap supplemental insurance coverage.

A type of Medigap policy that may require you to use hospitals and, in some cases, doctors within its network to be eligible for full benefits.
If you buy a Medicare SELECT policy, you have the right to change your mind within 12 months and switch to a standard Medigap policy.
